Tips & Rec's

Toro is no bullsh*t

Toro might mean "bull" in Spanish but Toro wine is no bull.  I had the pleasure of visiting this summer and was wowed even more. The local clone of Tempranillo called Tinta de Toro makes big, earthy and more tannic wines. than some of its more famous Spanish neighbors.  Here are a few to try:

Numanthia Termes

Bodega Rejadorada Sango Reserva

Iberian Girl

Spanish wine often gets overlooked and I don't know why.  Their bottlings mostly drink at higher price points. A $15 bottle of Spanish wine outdrinks an American wine at the same price in most cases. At least that is my opinion. Here are a few to try:

Bodegas Fillaboa Rias Baixas Albarino

Bodegas Juan Gil - Silver

Portuguese Please

Portugal is my favorite place in the world. The people are warm and friendly, it's beautiful, the food is yum, and the wine is delicious and inexpensive. I recently had the chance to visit for a 6th time. Here are some wines  from wineries I have visited that you can find in the US:

FitaPreta Vinhos A Touriga Vai Nua Touriga Nacional

Quinta do Vallado Douro Tinto

Joao Portugal Ramos Alentejo Ramos Reserva
